Hello. I am Joeleen Dodge of Joeleen Creates!
Pottery is my current passion. I am a hand builder who learned pottery after retiring and relocating to South East North Carolina.
From the time I was a child I have always had an interest in art. My major in college was interior design and as a result I have a passion for art and architecture. Although I have worked in many art mediums: acrylics, oils, and stained glass, I never had an opportunity to sculpt or mold. Three years ago, I took a class at Brunswick community college for beginning Pottery.
Currently, I only hand-build using porcelain clay because of it’s durability and beauty. Although I can throw on the wheel and am working on basic forms that I can then alter, my emphasis is form, hand painting, and surface design.
My point of view is creating functional pottery with an emphasis on an artistic viewpoint. I strive to create pieces that are both attractive, unique, and which serve a purpose.
I hope you like my work!
